The German reviews were also mostly negative:

“What could be a sensitive story about time gnawing at love turns into a tough, constructed-looking drama due to an overly complex narrative structure, which despite its intricacies is largely predictable and hardly allows emotions to arise,” writes the lexicon of international films .

Christian Horn von Filmstarts judges that the film is “an epic cinematic parable about the power of love. Unfortunately, the exciting thing is starting position too often slides into conventional Kitsch starting to be able to then pull out unscathed from the affair at the end. " The wife of the time traveler THAT CONDITION " patch and artificial [...] than the movie does well. " Ghost - Message from Sam , also penned by Bruce Joel Rubin , emphasizes the fantasy aspect more clearly, which makes him the better of the two films. Horn sums up: "Jump in time instead of fling [...], one could easily have drawn more fascination from the topic."

The editorial staff of Cinema is of the opinion that the film "looks like a distant relative of the Brad Pitt tear-puller" The Strange Case of Benjamin Button ", but is much weaker and uninspired" . The underlying "love novel by Audrey Niffenegger" is "unrestrained kitsch" by Schwentke . The result is a "confusing and nested love story with obvious logical holes and completely under-challenged leading actors" .
