Dioh Williams (born October 8, 1984 in Monrovia ) is a Liberian football player . The 1.84 m tall and 70 kg striker has played most of his career in Northern Europe.

Career

Williams played in his home country as a teenager before moving to Sweden for the first time in 1999. After he returned to his homeland a short time later, he joined the lower-class Swedish club Floda BoIF in 2002 . There he convinced as a regular goalscorer, so that the Gothenburg club BK Häcken , for whom the compatriots Dulee Johnson and Jimmy Dixon already played , signed him from the 2003 second division season . With 16 goals this season he sat behind Göran Marklund and Mats Lilienberg in third place on the league's list of goalscorers and thus led the club to third place in the table. In the relegation games against GIF Sundsvall , however, he missed promotion to the Allsvenskan with the team . Also in the following season he scored 16 goals this season, only Stefan Bärlin outbid him with 23 goals during the season. This time, however, he placed himself with the club at the top of the table and rose to the top division.

With eight goals this season, Williams helped the team around players like Christoffer Källqvist , Teddy Lučić and Johan Lind to stay in the Allsvenskan. In the following season, his hit rate fell, he only scored four goals. At the same time, the club found itself in the relegation battle and ended the first division season in 2006 on the relegation place. Again he was unsuccessful here with the team, after two defeats against the Stockholm club IF Brommapojkarna , the club went into the second division. After relegation, he initially remained loyal to the club and in March 2007 extended his contract to the end of 2008. However, after he had scored ten goals again by the summer, higher-class and foreign interested parties reported and at the end of August he signed a contract with the Danish club Aarhus GF .

Williams crowned his debut in the Superliga with the decisive goal for a 1-0 away win at Randers FC . In the further course of the season he formed the club's storm duo with Peter Graulund , which ended the season on the last non-relegation place. In the first half of the 2008/09 Superliga season , he stood out as a five-time goalscorer before injuring his Achilles tendon during the winter break . After a six-month break, he returned to the football field in the summer. However, he missed his goal threat in the episode, so that he lost his regular place and could not prevent the club's relegation to the second division.

At the end of August 2010, Williams negotiated with the Russian club Alania Wladikawkas and moved to the Premjer League on loan . In the 1: 2 defeat against CSKA Moscow by a goal by George Florescu with goals conceded by Zoran Tošić and Seydou Doumbia on August 29, he was in the starting line-up, but was substituted at half time. This was his only appearance in the top Russian league until the end of the season.

In January 2011 Williams returned to BK Häcken, who was able to agree on a move after one month of negotiations with Aarhus GF and players, and signed a three-year contract with the Gothenburg club. Here he was overshadowed by René Makondele , John Chibuike and Mathias Ranégie for much of the 2011 season and only started playing more in September, when the latter two had left the club during the summer transfer period, and was in the starting line-up until the end of the season. He scored once in the last two games, but the club missed out on a place in the European Cup by being sixth in the table. In the following season he was initially only a substitute player, as Björn Anklev , who had been injured for a long time last year , had established himself in the offensive row alongside Makondele and the newly signed center forward Abdul Majeed Waris . From the summer, however, he was more often in the starting line-up in the midfield, his season debut in the starting eleven at the end of June in a 2-1 away win at Örebro SK with his first goal of the season and the assist for the second goal by Makondele. In the 2012 season, he was still runner-up and slipped into the second half of the table with the club in the following season.

In February 2014, Williams moved within Allsvenskan and signed a three-year contract with Gefle IF , which also signed Anders Bååth from first division relegated Syrianska FC .
