Donja Lastva ( Cyrillic : Доња Ластва) is an urban settlement north of Tivat in Montenegro . According to the 2003 census, it had 733 inhabitants, half of whom were Croatians .

history

Archaeological finds show that the Romans already settled in the area of ​​Donja Lastva. Donja Lastva used to be a place of rest for the wealthy patrician families from Kotor who had their weekend houses built here.

economy

Until the construction of the Jadranska Magistrala , the residents of Donja Lastva were financially dependent mainly in the port of Tivat, as well as on fishing and shipping. It was only with the construction of the motor road that the community became interesting for other branches of the economy, especially tourism.

Culture and sights

In the lower part of the village, Donja Lastva, there is the Church of St. Roch. This is best known because of a painting by the Greek painter Elias Moskos , which depicts St. Trifun .

In the upper part of the town, Gornja Lastva, there are several small churches. The Sveti Vid Church was built in the 14th century. The altar of this Miuttergotteskirche is made of marble . The painting above the altar shows Mary. It was painted by Angelo Trevisani .

In the vicinity of Gornja Lastva there are remains of the medieval settlement Pasiglav and a cemetery.
