Dragon Days
The Dragon Days are an annual fantastic festival in the Stuttgart region , Baden-Württemberg , which specializes in fantastic content in various media types. As a transmedial festival, the Dragon Days combine different media such as computer games, literature, art, comics and film in interactive events. It is designed for professionals as well as a broad public. Since 2013, the Swabian Lindwurm, the award for outstanding achievements for the fantastic, has been awarded to selected representatives of the creative fantastic.
Festival creed
The Dragon Days intentionally distance themselves from the term fantasy in order to avoid prejudice. In addition to the fantasy genre, 'Fantastik' also includes horror and science fiction, and can therefore be applied to a wider range of content.
According to the festival director and curator Tobias Wengert, the aim of the Dragon Days is to offer quality content instead of just bringing big names to Stuttgart, "We are less commercial and more content". This claim is reinforced by the journalistic external perception: "While Fantastik is steadily increasing in economic importance across the media, the Dragon Days work on maintaining accessibility between consumers, creatives and managers."
The Swabian Lindworm (Prize)
The 'Swabian Lindwurm' is the undoped prize of the Dragon Days, which is awarded annually to special achievements in Fantastik. The name of the award (and also the inspiration for the 'Lindwurm' character in the trailer) goes back to the dinosaur Plateosaurus , whose fossils are often found in Baden-Württemberg and which is why it was nicknamed the 'Swabian Lindworm'. The model of the digital figure was used as a template for the prize statue. The annual price is unique. For each award ceremony, a single dragon is made using the complicated casting method lost form , which can only be used once.

Since 2013 the Dragon Days have had their own festival trailer, which shows the Swabian lindworm in an animated version.
The basis for this was the student work "Lindwurm" from 2012 by the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy : Originally produced on behalf of the ITFS in 2012, the trailer shows a little kite that chases through a dinosaur museum after the gates have closed. The trailer was filmed in the State Museum for Natural History in Stuttgart , whereupon the dragon was animated as a CGI figure and inserted into the real footage. Andreas Feix , a student at the time, was responsible for the direction and CG animation of the dragon .
