Elizabeth Ashley

Elizabeth Ashley (* the thirtieth August 1939 in Ocala , Florida , as Elizabeth Ann Cole ) is an American film and stage actress .

Life

Elizabeth Ashley graduated from Louisiana State University and the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City . She initially worked as a model and dancer, but then started a career on Broadway and developed into a major interpreter of Tennessee Williams on stage. However, the corresponding literary adaptations passed her by. She made her film debut in 1963 with Die Insättlichen (The Carpetbaggers) . Her roles ranged from comedian to difficult psychological studies.

From 1962 to 1965 she was married to her colleague James Farentino . In 1966 she married the actor George Peppard ; from this marriage in 1968 their only child Christian was born. In 1972 the divorce took place. Her third marriage to James Michael McCarthy lasted from 1976 to 1981.
