Enderndorf am See is a district of the town of Spalt in the Central Franconian district of Roth .
geography
The village is located in the Franconian Lake District , directly on the Igelsbachsee and Großer Brombachsee , approx. 3 km south of Spalt. The dam of the Igelsbachsee begins near Enderndorf. The place is in the Spalter hill country .
history
The place name should be derived from the geographical location. The word “ender”, Middle High German “enet”, means over there, beyond. According to this, Enderndorf is the village on the other side of the Spalt ridge.
The Brombach and Igelsbachtal already shows traces of settlement from around 2000 BC. Chr. On. A pre-Roman east-west road probably ran through the valley. In the Carolingian period Enderndorf belonged to the Gau Sualafeld .
The first documentary mention was in 1347, when the then landlord sold his fiefdom at Enderndorf to Wirich von Treuchtlingen. In the Middle Ages, Enderndorf was a wine growing village . From 1676 to 1903 the local rule belonged to the Nuremberg patrician family Harsdorf von Enderndorf .
From the beginning of the 16th century the transition to hops took place , as consumption habits had shifted to beer . Around 1900 hops were grown on 10% of the agricultural area, in 1956 it was 5%, today there are no more hops there. The originally agricultural village was transformed into a holiday resort by the Brombachsee .
Before the regional reform , Enderndorf was a municipality with the districts of Heiligenblut , Keilberg , Ottmannsberg , Stockheim and the Griesmühle and Sägmühle mills, which were sold in the 1980s due to the construction of the Brombachsee . The former community belonged to the former district of Gunzenhausen . On July 1, 1972, it was incorporated into Spalt in the Roth district.
traffic
Enderndorf is on the RH 13 district road coming from Spalt . Before the construction of the Brombachsee, it continued to Ramsberg , today it ends at the lake shore. The trimaran MS Brombachsee drives to various destinations from the seaport .
