history

The place was first mentioned in 1407 as "Fulsackzmul", named after the name of its owner Fulsacker. It was first mentioned in 1615 as "Hohenradter Mühle", named after the overshot mill wheel. The farm next to the Fulsackzmul was first mentioned in a document in 1447 as "Luftzhof", which was later called "Gänshaus". In 1671 there was an estate in Hohenrad that was subordinate to the Spalt caste office .

Towards the end of the 18th century, Hohenrad still consisted of just one property. The high court was exercised by the Wernfels-Spalt administration office in Eichstatt . The Mahlmühle had the caste office Spalt as landlord .

As part of the municipal edict, Hohenrad was assigned to the Wernfels tax district, formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Wernfels, founded in 1811 . In 1818 and 1840 and from 1925 onwards, Hohenrad also means the Gänshaus. On May 1, 1978 Hohenrad was incorporated into Spalt as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
