The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 145 is 18.5 hectares in size. It is located south of Sarstedt in the middle of agricultural land . The nature reserve, which consists of two sub-areas, places two waterlogged depressions with ponds under protection, which are characterized by grassland and around the ponds by silting zones with reeds and groups of trees.
An industrial line running through the nature reserves to a former potash plant has now been dismantled.
The area has been a nature reserve since March 8, 1990. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Hildesheim district.
