Mastberg and Innersteaue is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city of Hildesheim .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 134 is 37 hectares in size. It is completely part of the FFH area " Haseder Busch , Giesener Berge , Gallberg , Finkenberg ". In the north it borders directly on the nature reserve "Haseder Busch", in the west on the nature reserve " Lange Dreisch und Osterberg ".
The nature reserve is located in the north of the city of Hildesheim, west of the Hildesheim industrial area at the Hildesheim canal . It places a section of the Innerste Au at the foot of the Mastberg and the Mastberg under protection.
In the floodplain east of the innermost grassland areas can be found that are used relatively extensively as wet meadows due to high groundwater levels . The course of the river is accompanied by natural remains of alluvial forest . There is an oxbow lake in the north . Further flood basins are flood lawn , Hochstaudenfluren and sedges - and reeds companies to find.
The Mastberg, which consists of Keuper rocks , is covered by an oak-hornbeam forest that emerged from a former use of medium-sized forests and forest pastures .
On the western edge of the forest there is a population of Schneitel hornbeam. In order to preserve the cultural and historical economic forest, the earlier use of medium-sized forests and snowploughs is now being replaced by maintenance measures by the Lower Saxony state forests.
In the north of the reserve there are Bronze Age and Iron Age barrows .
The area has been a nature reserve since January 31, 2008. It replaces the "Innersteaue unter dem Mastberg" nature reserve, which was designated on January 26, 1989. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Hildesheim.
Kleeblatt nature experience area
