Ervin Moldován (born February 5, 1978 in Miercurea Ciuc ) is a Romanian ice hockey player of Hungarian origin who has been under contract with HSC Csíkszereda in the Romanian ice hockey league and the multinational MOL league since 2000 .

Career

Club

Ervin Moldován began his career as a hockey player with the Sportul Studențesc club in Bucharest , for which he made his debut in the Romanian ice hockey league in 1998 . In 2000 he moved to his hometown Miercurea Ciuc for HSC Csíkszereda , for which he has been active ever since. With his club he has been Romanian champion nine times since 2004 and won the Romanian Cup seven times . From 2002 to 2004 he played with his club not only in the Romanian league, but also in the supranational Pannonian league , which the team won in 2003/04 . After founding the Hungarian-Romanian MOL league , he was also active there with Csíkszereda and was able to win the league in the 2010/11 season. In 2014 he was together with Stanislaw Eis from CSM Dunărea Galați and Daniel Tanase from Sportul Studențesc behind his club-mate Tihamér Becze the second best scorer in the playoffs of the Romanian league.

International

As a teenager, Moldován started internationally for Romania. He made his debut in the men's national team at the 1998 World Cup . There, the Romanians missed promotion despite a 2-0 lead after the first third in the decisive game against hosts Hungary , as the game was lost 3-2. Moldován also played at the C-World Cup in 1999 . After the restructuring of the World Championships, he took part in 2001 with Romania in the newly created Division II. The tournament in Bucharest got five wins in five games and thus promotion to Division I, in which he was on the ice in 2002 , 2003 , 2004 and 2005 . After relegation in 2005, Moldován also competed in the following elevator years in 2006 . 2007 , 2008 and 2009 with successive ascents and descents. In 2010, however, he and his team missed the immediate promotion from Division II, which then succeeded a year later with a 2-1 win in the decisive game against hosts Croatia . Thanks to two victories against Lithuania (6: 5) and Australia (5: 3), the Romanians were in 2012 for the first time since 2004, keep in Division I, which also in 2013 succeeded in 15 Moldovan participation in a World Cup. In 2014, however , he and his team had to accept relegation to Division II. After the Romanians were promoted to Division I again in 2015 without Moldován, he also played there in 2016 .

Moldován also took part in the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver , 2014 in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang . The Romanians always failed in the first qualifying round.
