The Associazione Calcio Monza (formerly Monza FBC , AC Monza , AC Monza Brianza 1912 and SSD Monza 1912 ), AC Monza for short , is an Italian football club from the Lombard city of Monza, founded in 1912 .
The club colors are red and white. The home venue is the Stadio Brianteo , which can seat 18,568 spectators . In season 2020/21 the club playing in the Serie B . The club's training ground is the Centro sportivo Monzello , located in the north of the city of Monza.
history
The Associazione Calcio Monza was created in 1913 through a merger between Pro Monza and Pro Italia. Monza has played a total of 38 seasons in Serie B so far (last time in the 2000/01 season). However, never managed the club in the highest Italian league, Serie A , ascend. AC Monza Brianza has won four Coppa Italia di Serie C events so far, making it the record cup winner in this competition. The greatest international success was the victory in the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1976 , when Wimbledon FC were defeated 1-0 in the final.
In 2009 the club was bought by the Dutch international Clarence Seedorf . The former Inter-Star Giuseppe Bergomi and Salvo Zangari, boss of the Reply company , are also involved in the purchase . In April 2013, the association was taken over by the Anglo-Brazilian real estate entrepreneur Anthony Armstrong Emery. In September 2018 Fininvest SpA , Silvio Berlusconi's financial holding company , acquired the football club.
In 2015 the association was re-established under the name SSD Monza 1912.
