Finkenberg / Lerchenberg is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city of Hildesheim .
description
The 257.0 hectare area with license plate number NSG HA 211 is located west of Moritzberg and Neuhof . In the area are the 220 m high Finkenberg and the 243 m high Lerchenberg . The nature reserve, which was placed under protection with the first ordinance of July 23, 1976, is part of the FFH area 115 "Haseder Busch, Giesener Berge, Gallberg, Finkenberg". The city of Hildesheim is responsible as the lower nature conservation authority.
The nature reserve extends over 4.5 km in a north-south direction. It is a mountain range of shell limestone that has been wooded for more than 150 years .
It is one of the northernmost limestone beech forests in Lower Saxony. Many plant species grow on the edge of their natural range. Linden-rich oak and hornbeam forests are a specialty . They are believed to have emerged from former coppice forests .
