Fish of the year (Germany)

The fish of the year has been chosen since 1984. From 1984 to 1990, the type of which was Petri Foundation named, since 1991 the fish by the Association of German sport fishing e. V. (VDSF), since 2013 the German Angling Association (DAFV). The selection is made according to the risk due to the harmful effects of humans on the fish's habitat . Bitterling , brown trout , bullhead , European eel , grayling , lamprey and nose have already been voted Fish of the Year twice. Atlantic salmon was voted three times.
