The Football League Third Division 1992/93 was the first season of the Football League Third Division as only fourth highest English football league and 35th fourth division playing time in total.

The three best-placed clubs Cardiff City , AFC Wrexham and FC Barnet went straight to the Football League Second Division. The clubs in places four to seven played the fourth promoted team in play-off mode. Here York City prevailed.

The bottom of the table was relegated. Maidstone United was the 23rd team before the start of the season due to bankruptcy .
