The Football League One 2004/05 was the first season of the Football League Two as the fourth highest English division behind the Premier League , the Football League Championship and the Football League One as well as the 13th season of the third highest division of the Football League after the introduction of the Premier League in 1992.

The top three clubs, Yeovil Town , Scunthorpe United and Swansea City , went straight to Football League One. The clubs in places four to seven determined the fourth promoted team in play-off mode. Here the Southend United prevailed.

Kidderminster Harriers and Cambridge United rose to the National League and were replaced by FC Barnet and Carlisle United the following season .
