Forest City is a census-designated place (CDP) in Seminole County in the US state of Florida with a population of 13,854 (as of 2010).

geography

Forest City is directly adjacent to the cities of Altamonte Springs (east) and Apopka (west, Orange County ) and is located around 25 km southwest of Sanford and around 10 km north of Orlando . The CDP is crossed by US Highway 441 and Florida State Road 436 . The Florida Central Railroad operates freight traffic from here to Winter Garden , to Orlando and to Sorrento and Umatilla .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 13,854 inhabitants were distributed over 5,726 households. The population density was 1248.1 inh / km². 79.2% of the population identified themselves as whites, 8.0% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 4.3% as Asian Americans . 5.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.1% to several ethnic groups. 24.4% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 36.0% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 22.8% of all households. 69.6% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.63 people and the average family size was 3.10 people.

26.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 31.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 17.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 39 years. 48.5% of the population were male and 51.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 54,493, with 11.4% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, 81.48% of the population spoke English as their first language, 15.69% spoke Spanish and 2.83% spoke another language.
