Franz von Morgenstern (also: Julius Christian Franz Morgenstern ; born December 11, 1787 in Uslar ; died December 6, 1869 in Bad Harzburg ) was a German officer, member of the state parliament , minister for warfare in the Duchy of Braunschweig and military writer . Franz Morgenstern was the son of in Hameln born Carl Friedrich Morgenstern (* 1736, † April 18, 1789 in Uslar) and Theresa Christine Schönhut († 1833), finally nephew was also born in Hameln Johann Carl Morgenstern (1739-1787). Morgenstern's father had retired to Uslar, where he now spent his childhood. After the father's death, however, the mother returned to Braunschweig, where Morgenstern and his brother visited the Katharineum in Braunschweig in 1797 . In 1802 he reached the top .

On July 3, 1808, Morgenstern was finally hired as a Sous-Lieutenant in the Westphalian 2nd Line Infantry Regiment in Braunschweig. Towards the end of the year he was relocated to Kassel and in 1809 the campaign in Spain . Morgenstern was wounded here on July 8, 1909 in front of Fort Montjouy, Gerona . On November 25, 1813, Morgenstern found employment as a lieutenant in the Braunschweig light infantry regiment, was directed to the 2nd light battalion on January 1, 1814, was promoted to captain again on January 3, 1814 and switched to the 3rd light on January 14, 1814 as a company commander Battalion. In the 1930s Morgenstern founded the regimental library, which he managed from then on.
