Gastewitz is a village in the Leipzig district in Saxony . Politically, the place has belonged to Grimma since 2012 . It is located on the S 38 state road between Mutzschen and Prösitz .

Gastewitz was first mentioned in documents as "Gosztanewiz" in 1251. Further mentions were:
