In August and September 2016 there were casting dates in nine cities. On October 19 and 22, there were again castings in Cologne and Munich , where applicants introduced themselves to jurors Michael Michalsky and Thomas Hayo . They decided which of them to include in their team. If both jurors wanted to accept an applicant, they could choose a juror. The resulting teams consisted of 25 (Hayo) and 26 (Michalsky) participants. The jurors then presented their candidates to Heidi Klum at Kassel-Calden Airport , who selected 26 of them for the final round. In addition, the jurors took the opportunity to keep a participant who had been rejected by Klum in the team. In the second episode, the 28 finalists flew from Kassel to Marseille , from where they set sail on the cruise ship Astoria and made stops in Mallorca , Menorca and Barcelona . After a short stay in Barcelona, the candidates flew to Los Angeles in episode four , where a model aspirant refused the makeover and had to say goodbye. As a new feature, there was a "Shoot Out" in episodes 3, 4 and 14. In addition, Heidi Klum named two “wobbly candidates” in episodes 2, 3 and 13. The losers of the settlement left the show immediately afterwards. This season, Nikeata Thompson (Team Michalski) and Mac Folkes (Team Hayo) acted as catwalk trainers .
In the final of the show on May 25, 2017, the 18-year-old and 1.81-meter tall Bethmann won the competition. She received a contract with the model agency ONEeins fab management , a car and prize money of 100,000 euros. At the beginning of September 2017, Bethmann ended the cooperation with the agency ONEeins fab Management . The agency's lawyers rejected the dismissal.
