The jury for the fourth season of Germany's Next Topmodel again consisted of Heidi Klum , Peyman Amin and Rolf Scheider . Make-up artist Boris Entrup was also involved in the program again. Britney Spears delivered the title song with Circus . In addition to the permanent jury, the participants were also judged by guest judges such as the Spice Girls Melanie Brown and Victoria Beckham .

Initially, 18,786 written applications were received, which, however, were not clearly considered. This was followed by open castings in Düsseldorf and Munich with 1104 and 1376 participants, respectively, from which 15 participants were selected in two steps in each city. From these 30 applicants, 16 candidates for the final round were selected in the third episode, who flew to Los Angeles . In addition, the winner of Austria's Next Top Model took part in the final round.

Most of the finals took place in the United States . In addition to Los Angeles, where most of the episodes were filmed, the candidates also tried to win the challenges set by the jury in Las Vegas , Miami , New York , Hawaii and, most recently, Singapore , and also to get model or advertising jobs. For this, the representatives of various companies selected one or more of the remaining participants according to their performance in the tasks they had set.

The final was broadcast live on May 21, 2009 from the Lanxess Arena in Cologne . Of the three remaining participants at the time, Sara Nuru emerged as the winner. Although the outcome of the broadcasts was kept secret by ProSieben, as in the previous seasons, the Kleine Zeitung in Carinthia announced the departure of the Austrian candidate ahead of time, citing ProSieben. There was also speculation in other media about the departure of female candidates. Sara Nuru appeared on the cover of German Cosmopolitan and won advertising deals with Maybelline Jade and C&A . In 2014, Larissa Marolt took part in the RTL jungle show I am a star - get me out of here! part. Sixth placed Sarina Nowak worked successfully as a curvy model in the USA in 2017 .
