The jury of the first season, which started on January 25, 2006, consisted of Heidi Klum , hairdresser and make-up artist Armin Morbach, Booker Peyman Amin and the American choreographer and catwalk trainer Bruce Darnell . In addition to the permanent jury, the participants were also judged by guest jurors such as model Marcus Schenkenberg , designer Jette Joop and actor Erol Sander .

From a total of 11,637 applicants, the show began with 32 preselected candidates, twelve of whom advanced in the first episode. Lena Gercke was chosen as the winner, Yvonne Schröder came in second ahead of Jennifer Wanderer. Celine Roscheck , who was elected Miss Austria in 2002 , voluntarily gave up in episode 3. The winner Lena Gercke received a small car and a contract with Face Your Brand! , in which it is agreed that she works for the modeling agency IMG Models and appears on the cover of Cosmopolitan in the June 2006 issue. Gercke moderated the first 4 seasons of Austria's Next Topmodel at Puls 4 from 2009 to 2012 .

In contrast to the first nine episodes, the finale was not filmed until the afternoon of the day of the broadcast in a studio with invited guests as a summary with retrospectives. Between the recordings, the last three remaining candidates had to cope with a few more tasks.

resonance

The show hit the headlines in February 2006 when a participant in the show had to leave the competition because, according to a judge, she was too fat. The CDU politician Gitta Connemann accused ProSieben of providing a dangerous role model for girls in puberty . An open letter from the participants (with the exception of Celine Roscheck) then appeared in various newspapers (e.g. in the FAZ as a full-page color advertisement) on February 8 , in which the majority emphasized that none of them were starving and that the jurors had not invented the rules .

Audience ratings

The first season was a success for the station ProSieben, the finale again achieved a significant increase in the rate.
