The municipality Proskau ( Polish Gmina Prószków ) is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Opole of the Opole Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of Prószków / Proskau with about 2650 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality has an area of 121.2 km² and borders in the northeast on the district and voivodeship capital Opole (Oppeln) . Proskau itself is about twelve kilometers southwest of Opole. The Prószkowski Potok (Proskauer Bach) is one of the waters .
history
In 2004 Proskau were in 1863 but knew town charter granted again and the church received its present status. Since April 30, 2010, the municipality has been officially confirmed as bilingual and the city was given the official name Prószków / Proskau. In June 2012 bilingual place-name signs were put up.
politics
Community leader
The head of the municipal administration is the municipality leader. For many years this was Róża Malik from the German minority. The regular election in October 2018 brought the following result:
- Krzystof Cebula (Election Committee Krzystof Cebula) 51.5% of the vote
- Róża Malik ( German Minority Election Committee ) 48.5% of the vote
Cebula was elected as the new mayor in the first ballot.
Municipal council
The municipal council consists of 15 members and is directly elected. The 2018 municipal council election led to the following result:
- German minority election committee 453% of the vote, 7 seats
- Electoral Committee Krzystof Cebula 33.0%% of the vote, 3 seats
- Election committee “Together for the community of Proskau” 15.9% of the votes, 3 seats
- Election committee “Together for the community of Proskau” 5.8% of the votes, 2 seats

The place Winau (Winów) was incorporated into the city of Opole on January 1, 2017 and left the Proskau municipality.
traffic
The voivodship roads DW 414 run through the main town in a north-south direction and DW429 in a west-east direction. The A4 motorway runs in the south of the municipality .
