Bob Gunton
Robert Patrick Gunton Jr. (born November 15, 1945 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American film and stage actor .
Live and act
Gunton was born to Rose Marie Banovetz and Robert Patrick Gunton Sr., a union leader . He attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana , the Paulist Seminary at St. Peter's College in Baltimore, and the University of California at Irvine . As a devout Catholic, Gunton originally planned to become a priest. Between 1969 and 1971 Gunton served in the United States Army and participated in the Vietnam War during this time ; for his service he received a Bronze Star for Valor and the Vietnam Service Medal .
After the end of his service, Gunton took part in various musicals at the beginning of his career on Broadway . In 1980 he played the role of Juan Peron in the Broadway version of Evita . He received the Drama Desk Award and a Tony Award for his performance . Gunton received another Tony nomination in 1990 for playing the title role in Sweeney Todd .
Gunton has also been in front of the film camera since 1981. He made his film debut in the thriller The Rollover Plot by Alan J. Pakula . In 1994 he was alongside Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman as Warden Norton in the film - drama The Shawshank Redemption to see. In 2009, Gunton played the President's Chief of Staff on the television series 24 .
From July 6, 1980 to 2006 Gunton was married to the film actress Annie McGreevey , with whom he has a daughter. The marriage ended in divorce in 2006 and he married Carey Pitts Gunton that same year .
