The 105 hectare large conservation area Haldenberg is one natural area to Lake basin . It is located about five kilometers northeast of the Friedrichshafen city center, in the districts of Ailingen and Ettenkirch , between Ailingen and the hamlets of Oberlottenweiler, Lindenholz, Waltenweiler and Habratsweiler, at an altitude of up to 479 m above sea level. Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the drumlin created by the glaciers and meltwater with its slope areas as a geological unit typical of the region . Hiking trails

Ailingen panorama trail

The approximately ten kilometer long panorama path runs from the Ailingen town hall via Unterlottenweiler, to Horach, the highest point in Friedrichshafen, past the Höhlerösch and over the Haldenberg back to the town hall. At ten stations, information boards explain natural and historical aspects of the landscape around Ailingen to hikers.

Jubiläumsweg Bodenseekreis

The third stage ( Meckenbeuren - Markdorf ) of the Jubiläumsweg Bodenseekreis , a 111-kilometer hiking trail that was signposted in 1998 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Bodenseekreis, runs through the landscape protection area . It leads over six stages through the hinterland of Lake Constance from Kressbronn via Neukirch , Meckenbeuren, Markdorf, Heiligenberg and Owingen to Überlingen .

Attractions

Haldenberg Chapel

The Haldenberg Chapel was built on the Haldenberg in 1921 as a war memorial chapel for those who fell in the First World War . The building material was used by the former Marienkapelle of the Reinachmühle. In addition to the “Star in the Sea of Life” mosaic by Kurt Zöller, the modern Way of the Cross (also Zöller) and the Pietà (1893) are worth seeing. The chapel is a stop on the Friedrichshafen History Trail .
