The Hans-Sachs-Gymnasium (short: HSG ) is a state high school in Nuremberg . It is located not far from the old town in the Maxfeld district and was named after the Nuremberg master- singer Hans Sachs (1494–1576).

history

In 1903 the Hans-Sachs-Gymnasium was founded as the royal district secondary school II . The school building - the Löbleinschule - from the first days still exists today. It is now a listed building . In 1976 girls were admitted to the school, which had previously been run as a "high school for boys". The current director of the Hans-Sachs-Gymnasium is senior director Wilfried Büttner, his deputy director of studies Karlheinz Dölle. The school is active in many regional and national competitions and has been very successful in recent years, especially on a sporting level and in the field of school theater. Since 2006 it has been one of the nationally selected World Cup schools . The HSG has a special position compared to neighboring grammar schools due to its bilingual branch in which individual subjects such as history or geography are taught in English. From 2007 the Hans-Sachs-Gymnasium participates in a project of the University of Cambridge , England, in which image and sound materials are to be produced for students of history at the University of Cambridge.

In the Hans-Sachs-Gymnasium is the office of the ministerial representative for the grammar schools in Middle Franconia (currently Martin Rohde, deputy Wilfried Büttner), who supervises all grammar schools in the administrative district.

At the grammar school there is a seminar for teacher training in the subjects German, English, history, mathematics, physics, computer science, geography, economics / law and sport. This makes the school the only IT seminar school in Northern Bavaria.
