The nature reserve with the NSG LÜ 117 label, which consists of two parts, is 60 hectares in size. The two areas are separated from each other by a street. Be in two subregions Schlatts with numerous Handtorfstichen , the silting show stendenzen and quaking are surrounded. The Schlatts lie in largely tree-free raised bog areas, which are surrounded by pine forest on higher, sandy terrain . This should be developed to the oak-birch forest corresponding to the natural vegetation .
The nature reserve is completely surrounded by forest areas. In the smaller of the two areas to the east, there is a marked path through the nature reserve.
