Lachte is the name of a nature reserve along the eponymous river Lachte in the Lower Saxon communities of Eldingen , Beedenbostel and Lachendorf in the Lachendorf community in the district of Celle and in the city ​​of Celle .

General

The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 287 is 489  hectares , of which 364 hectares are in the district and 125 hectares in the city of Celle. The entire nature reserve is part of the FFH area No. 086 "Lutter, Lachte, Aschau (with some tributaries)". The area has been under protection since April 9, 2009. Responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the city and the district of Celle.

The nature reserve is located east of Celle and comprises the predominantly rather narrow valley depression of the eponymous river Lachte without the upper course in the neighboring district of Gifhorn , which lies in the nature reserve " Obere Lachte, Kainbach, Jafelbach ".

The protected area is characterized by the natural and continuous river course of the Lachte in parts. The Lachte has a sandy-gravelly stream bed and very well developed aquatic vegetation. Numerous ponds can be found in the reserve. The course of the river Lachte is accompanied by floodplain and swamp forests as well as deciduous and mixed forests and grassland areas , including wet meadows . The bank areas are often occupied by tall herbaceous vegetation , sedges , reeds and wet bushes. In addition, a few arable land can be found in the nature reserve. Most of the forests and agricultural areas are cultivated, some areas are fallow and partially swampy.

Which were at different sections of the Laughed backwaters reactivated and rehabilitated . These included, among other things, the “Königsplatz” junction in the urban area of ​​Celle and “Alte Ahnsbecker Stege” near Beedenbostel. In the spring of 2015, near Beedenbostel, part of the original course of the watercourse was reactivated by dredging and gravel, typical of the site, was installed as a spawning bank . Around 70,000 euros were spent on this, most of which were raised by the European Union , but also by the district of Celle and individual NABU local groups in the district.

Flora and fauna

The Lachte and its banks offer a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. In the nature reserve u. a. Otters , crested newts , brook lampreys , bullheads and wolffish , great moss damsel and green hippopotamus and river pearl mussel . The black stork is a food guest.

Adjacent protected areas

The nature reserve "Lachte" borders on several other protected areas. To the southwest of Steinhorst , it adjoins the “Obere Lachte, Kainbach, Jafelbach” nature reserve in the Gifhorn district, between Wohlenrode and Hohnhorst it borders on the “ Frehmbeck ” nature reserve , northeast of Lachendorf with the “ Lutter ” nature reserve and between Lachendorf and the Celler Lachtehausen district to the " Schweinbruch " nature reserve . In Celle there is the nature reserve " Obere Allerniederung bei Celle ", in which the lowest section of the Lachte is located from the crossing of state road 282 in the Celle district of Lachtehausen to the confluence with the Aller . Southwest of Steinhorst and the nature reserve "Lutter" it borders often to the conservation area "Südheide". It is located between Steinhorst and Beedenbostel on the southern edge of the Südheide Nature Park .
