Horný Tisovník (Hungarian Felsőtisztás - until 1907 Felsőtiszovnyik ) is a municipality in the middle of Slovakia with 178 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which is located in the Okres Detva , part of the Banskobystrický kraj .

geography

The municipality is located between the Javorie and Ostrôžky Mountains and on the edge of the Krupinská planina (Carp High Plateau) in the valley of the Tisovník River . The center of the village is located at an altitude of 442  m nm and is 23 kilometers from Detva .

In addition to the main town Horný Tisovník, the municipality also includes the cadastral parishes Dolný Tisovník (incorporated in 1990) and Balážova Huta (incorporated after 1882, no cadastral community).

Neighboring municipalities are Stará Huta in the north, Ábelová in the east, Červeňany in the south and Lešť (military area) in the west.

history

The place arose in the 15th century as a pertinence in the Divín Castle estate and was first mentioned in writing in 1548. The landlords from the Balassa dynasty at that time had the village populated for the purpose of extracting and processing beech wood. In the 17th century the settlements were divided between the domain of Dívin Castle and that of Modrý Kameň Castle . Between the 17th and 19th centuries, a total of 18 hamlets / individual settlements emerged in what is now the municipality. In 1828 there were 70 houses and 444 inhabitants who were employed as carters, farmers and grain traders. At that time, most of the estates belonged to the large estate families Zichy and Nemeskéri-Kiss.

Until 1918, the place in Neograd County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 207 inhabitants in Horný Tisovník, 154 of them Slovaks . 53 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity.

290 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 11 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, five residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and one resident to the Greek Catholic Church. 15 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 12 residents was not determined.
