prehistory
In 2007 there were already rumors about another season. However, RTL entertainment director Tom Sänger denied plans for a third season in May 2007, since after such a temporary event programming it would be difficult for the broadcaster and viewers to return to the normal programming schedule. At the beginning of November 2007, when designer Barbara Herzsprung announced that she would like to take part in the next season, rumors of a return to the format emerged again. Finally, on November 20, 2007, RTL officially confirmed the third season.
procedure
On January 19, 2008, the candidate Lisa Bund left the show and was hospitalized because of an acute inflammation of the stomach lining ( gastritis ). According to RTL, the inflammation was not caused by poor hygiene in the camp or the exams.
Björn-Hergen Schimpf injured himself during the exam on January 20th and asked the audience not to call for him in order to avoid the sentence "I am a star ...".
On January 22nd, the candidate DJ Tomekk had to leave the show after a video recorded shortly before moving into the camp became known, in which he raised his hand in the Hitler salute and sang the first verse of the Deutschlandlied . Even after DJ Tomekk declared the incident a joke and apologized for it, he was not allowed to return. In the last broadcast, on January 26, 2008, the last three remaining candidates were Bata Illic, Michaela Schaffrath and Ross Antony; the latter was voted the “jungle king” by the audience.
