The Interstate 280 (abbreviated I-280 ) is an east-west interstate highway in the western and southern areas around the Quad Cities of Illinois and Iowa . It begins on Interstate 80 near Davenport and ends after 43 kilometers on Interstate 80 near Colona .

From the intersection with I-80, the route of Interstate 280 is used from US Highway 6 to the first exit. The I-280 then runs south and meets US Highway 61 to the southeast of Davenport and shortly afterwards Iowa State Route 22 . With the crossing of the Mississippi River on the I-280 Bridge , the interstate reaches the state of Illinois.

At the first exit in Illinois, State Route 92 branches off north and shortly afterwards it is crossed by US Highway 67 . In the north of Quad City International Airport , Interstate 280 meets US 6 again. It also shares the route with Interstate 74 until I-80 .
