The Interstate 280 (abbreviated I-280 ) is a north-south interstate highway in the San Francisco Bay Area in northern California . It connects Interstate 680 and US Highway 101 in San José with San Francisco over a length of 91.54 kilometers (56.88 miles) .

This route is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System and is eligible for the State Scenic Highway System .
