history
For a long time, the Israeli selection was unable to qualify for the U21 European Championship , which has been held every two years since 1992 . Only in the ninth attempt did they qualify for the 2007 European Under-21 Championship in the Netherlands . They beat Wales in the group stage and drew against Turkey . As group winners, they successfully qualified for the playoffs, where they had to play in two games against France . The first meeting in Cannes ended in a 1-1 draw after goals from Ronald Zubar on the French and Ben Sahar on the Israeli side. In the second leg in Herzlia , the Ethiopian- born midfielder Imaye Taga shot the Israelis in the 93rd minute for their first participation in the finals. In the group stage they lost to all three opponents Belgium , the Netherlands and Portugal and were eliminated from the competition as bottom of the table. The qualification at the next two tournaments was missed again. The next participation was made possible in 2013 as an organizer, as this is automatically qualified for the final round. In the first group game against Norway , the hosts drew 2-2 due to a late goal. In the second game against Italy they had to admit defeat 4-0. In the last match against England scored Ofir Kriaf after 80 minutes the only goal of the day to 1: 0 victory. However, the four points achieved were not enough for promotion to the final round and you were eliminated from the competition as third party. The qualification for the next two tournaments was narrowly missed despite reaching second place in the group twice.
