Jack Raymond Colback (born October 24, 1989 in Killingworth , England ) is an English football player who is primarily used as a midfielder . He has been under contract with Newcastle United since the 2014/15 season .
Career
society
Colback began his professional football career at Sunderland AFC, whose football academy he entered when he was 10. He signed his first professional contract there in 2008. However, he did not have an assignment for the first team at this time and was awarded to the second division club Ipswich Town for the 2009/10 season . He returned to Sunderland during the season and made his Premier League debut on May 9, 2010 . In the 2-1 away defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers he was substituted on for Steed Malbranque in the 77th minute of the game , but was later sent off with the yellow-red card, so that his debut lasted only 9 minutes.
In October 2010 he was loaned to Ipswich Town again, but returned in January 2011 and subsequently made his breakthrough at Sunderland. Mainly used as a central midfielder, Colback occasionally had to help out as a left defender. After a total of 115 games, he moved to local rivals Newcastle United on a free transfer for the 2014/15 season , which was heavily criticized by Sunderland's fans. There he made his debut on August 17, 2014 in a 2-0 home loss to Manchester City .
On January 31, 2018, he moved to second division Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season .
For the EFL Championship 2018/19 he was loaned to Forest again. The club also received a purchase option at the end of the season.
National team
Colback completed a single game for the England U-20 national team . This was the 2-0 win in the friendly against Italy on March 31, 2009, in which he came on in the 79th minute for Marc Albrighton .
