Emil Henry Kristoffer Krafth (born August 2, 1994 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish football player . The defender is under contract with the English first division club Newcastle United and plays for the Swedish national team .

Club career

Emil Krafth played at the beginning of his career in 2010 for the amateur club Lagans AIK. Subsequently, he was signed by the second division side Östers IF for the 2011 season and played there under the coach Roar Hansen despite his young age in the starting line-up. With fourth place in the table, the team only just missed promotion to Sweden's top division . The Swedish champions and cup winner Helsingborgs IF was also impressed by the sovereign performances of the full-back and signed Emil Krafth from the 2012 season . Before the start of the season he and his new team won the Swedish Supercup with a 2-0 win over AIK . Krafth was on the bench, but was not used. In the league, Helsingborgs was only sixth in the table after the convincing pre-season and used the young full-back nine times. Former Bundesliga player Christoffer Andersson was on the right side of the defense . For the 2013 season , Roar Hansen was introduced as the new coach who had already looked after Krafth at Östers. Under his leadership, he ousted Andersson as a right-back and became a regular in Helsingborg, who were fifth at the end of the season and could improve by one place. In the 2014 season , Krafth and his team slipped into the midfield of the league and only finished ninth.

In the summer of 2015, Kraft moved to the Italian first division club FC Bologna . Three years later he moved to England to Newcastle United .

National team

After the young Krafth developed into a regular player in Helsingborg, he also made his debut for the Swedish national football team on January 17, 2014 . In the friendly against Moldova he came on for Oscar Lewicki in the 85th minute and set up Erton Fejzullahu 's 2-1 winner a minute later .

In the summer of 2015, Krafth was part of the original squad of the Swedish U-21 selection team for the U-21 European Championship 2015, which was supervised by selection coach Håkan Ericson . A few days before the start of the tournament, he injured himself in preparation and was replaced by Victor Lindelöf . He was a regular player on the way to winning the title, in the final against Portugal he converted the last penalty kick in a penalty shoot-out .
