Javier "Javi" Manquillo Gaitán (born May 5, 1994 in Madrid ) is a Spanish football player . His preferred position is right full defense . He has been under contract with Newcastle United since summer 2017 .
Career
Manquillo began his career at Atlético Madrid , for whose youth teams he played from 2007. From the 2012/13 season, he was part of the squad of the second team, with whom he in the Segunda División B played. On December 8, 2011 he came to his first use in the Copa del Rey against the Albacete Balompié . He made his La Liga debut on December 9, 2013 against Deportivo La Coruña .
For the 2014/15 season , Manquillo moved to Liverpool for two years on loan in the Premier League . In addition, the club secured a purchase option. He made his debut on August 17, 2014 in a 2-1 win over Southampton FC on Matchday 1 over the full season. Due to a few appearances, the loan was ended after a year and Manquillo was loaned to Olympique Marseille for the 2015/16 season in Ligue 1 . In August 2016 it was awarded to Sunderland AFC .
