Matthew Ben "Matty" Longstaff (born March 21, 2000 in Rotherham ) is an English football player who plays as a midfielder for Newcastle United .

Career

Longstaff began his career at North Shields Athletics and then joined the youth teams of Newcastle United from 2016, like his older brother Sean .

He made his debut for the professional team at the end of August as a starting player in the EFL Cup against Leicester City and was then used in the U23 Premier League.

In his Premier League debut on October 6, 2019, which he performed with his brother Sean in offensive midfield over the entire season, he scored the winning goal against Manchester United in the 72nd minute .
