Christian Atsu Twasam (born January 10, 1992 in Ada ) is a Ghanaian football player .
Career
society
At the age of 17, Atsu moved to Portugal in the youth department of FC Porto . In the 2010/11 season he was appointed to the professional squad for the first time on May 14, 2011 for the game against Marítimo Funchal by then coach André Villas-Boas . However, he was not substituted in in the 2-0 away win.
For the 2011/12 season he was loaned to Rio Ave FC together with his teammate Kelvin to gain match practice. He made his first appearance on the third matchday in the home defeat against SC Olhanense . He scored his first goal in the third game on matchday five in a 3-2 home defeat by Sporting Lisbon . On December 16, 2011 in the game against Benfica Lisbon Atsu scored the opening goal for his club in the 24th minute. Nevertheless, Benfica won 5-1 in the end. In his last game for Rio Ave on the last day of the season Atsu met his home club, FC Porto . At this point Porto was already the champions and won the match 5-2 in the Rio Ave stadium. Atsu scored the second goal to make it 2: 3.
On September 1, 2013 Atsu signed a five-year contract with Chelsea FC until June 30, 2018 and was loaned to Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie until the end of the 2013/14 season .
For the 2014/15 season Atsu was loaned to Everton FC . A season later Atsu was awarded to the Premier League promoted AFC Bournemouth . After Atsu did not play in the league there, he was awarded to the Spanish Primera División on January 26, 2016 at FC Málaga .
After only twelve appearances and two goals, Atsu signed on August 31, 2016, initially as a loan player at Newcastle United . He was firmly committed to the 2017/18 season and signed a contract until June 30, 2021.
National team
He played his first international match for Ghana on June 1, 2012 in the qualifier for the 2014 World Cup against Lesotho . At home in Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi , he was substituted on in the 67th minute by coach James Kwesi Appiah and scored the fifth goal in Ghana's 7-0 win.
