Jacob Micflikier (born July 11, 1984 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Friborg-Gottéron in the Swiss National League .
Career
Beginnings in college hockey
Jacob Micflikier began his career at the age of 18 in the United States Hockey League at Sioux Falls Stampede . In the team from South Dakota , where he was on the ice with the later NHL player Thomas Vanek , the left winger became the team's top scorer in his second season . After this station he enrolled at the University of New Hampshire , where he played for the Wildcats in the Hockey East Association , a division of the NCAA . In his final season at the college, he was elected assistant captain. With 150 points scored, the attacker ranks 24th on the all-time best list of Wildcats . In addition, he was awarded the Ted Karmeris Fan Favorite Award , the prize for the most popular player among fans , three times in a row . In his second season in Hockey East, he was named MVP of his university. In his four years at the University of New Hampshire, the offensive player scored four hat tricks .
First professional positions in the AHL
On March 28, 2007, after the end of the Hockey East season, Micflikier signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Springfield Falcons , the farm team of the Edmonton Oilers . In his nine appearances in the American Hockey League , he was able to recommend himself for the following season and thus signed his first professional contract. However, Micflikier was mostly used in the East Coast Hockey League at Stockton Thunder that season. The move to Rochester Americans followed , where he signed a one-year contract. Here, too, he was transferred to the ECHL to the Florida Everblades during the season , where the left winger was named player of the week once in the league. The majority of the games Micflikier completed this time in the AHL. The Canadian completed his third season in the highest minor league in North American ice hockey with his third club, the Albany River Rats . Also in this season he came to the Florida Everblades in the ECHL. Although he only played 16 games for the Estero team , he was named "November Player of the Month" and nominated for the ECHL All-Star Game . For the 2010/11 season , the player's contract was extended. However, the Canadians tied up for a change of location this season for the Charlotte Checkers , the skates . In his first full AHL season he was third behind Zach Boychuk and Chris Terry on the internal scoring list. Nevertheless, another club change followed. Micflikier signed with the Washington Capitals from the National Hockey League, but was only used by their farm team, the Hershey Bears .
Change to Europe
The Canadian decided to move to Europe and signed a contract with the Swiss first division club EHC Biel . Due to the lockout , Micfikier ran mostly in line with NHL stars Patrick Kane and Tyler Seguin . As a result, the attacker scored the most points of his team and took fourth place in the scorer ranking in the league. He also won the Spengler Cup with Team Canada on New Year's Eve with a 7-2 final triumph over HC Davos . Nevertheless, the Canadian left the National League A after the season and opted for a more lucrative offer from HK Dinamo Minsk . However, he could not assert himself in the Continental Hockey League and left the Belarusian capital after only eleven missions . This was followed by a return to the Swiss elite class, where he signed a two-year contract with HC Lugano . The 2014/15 season spent Micflikier at Linköpings HC in Svenska Ligan hockey before in May 2015 within the league to Luleå HF changed. With 33 points (19 goals, 14 assists) he was Luleås best scorer in the main round of the 2015/16 season .
In April 2016 he was signed by EHC Biel from the Swiss National League A (NLA), where he was already employed during the 2012/13 season.
