Jasień (German: Nenkau , Kashubian : Nënczi or Nënkòwë ) is a district of Gdańsk ( Danzig ) in Poland , this covers an area of ​​11.5 km² and has 8157 inhabitants with a population density of 710 inhabitants / km². The area and the places have been administratively part of the city of Gdansk since January 1st 1973.

history

In 1772 Nenkowy (Jasień) came to the Kingdom of Prussia in the course of the First Partition of Poland . Nenkau formed a Gutsbezirk first in 1772 founded Circle Tczew , and then from 1818 in the district of Gdansk in the administrative district of Gdansk the province of West Prussia . After the attack on Poland , the Third Reich annexed the mandate area of ​​Gdansk in an act that was not recognized under international law in 1939 and incorporated it into the newly established Gdansk West Prussia , to which Nenkau belonged as part of the new district of Gdansk until the end of the Second World War .

Towards the end of the Second World War, the region was occupied by the Red Army in the spring of 1945 . The Soviet occupying force handed Nenkau the summer of 1945, according to the Potsdam Agreement together with the whole territory of the Free City offers Pomerania and the southern half of East Prussia in Polish was administration.
