Franz Ewald Jesco von Puttkamer (born August 26, 1841 in Berlin , † September 11, 1918 in Nippoglense ) was a Prussian civil servant and German conservative politician.

Life

He came from the Puttkamer family and was the son of the lawyer and politician Eugen von Puttkamer , who was President of the Province of Poznan from 1851 to 1860. He was married twice. The first marriage resulted in two sons and a daughter.

Puttkamer graduated from high school in Wittenberg and studied law in Heidelberg and Berlin . Then he entered the Prussian civil service. In 1869 he was a government assessor in Potsdam . He participated as a soldier in the wars of 1866 and 1870/71 . His highest military rank was major in the reserve . From 1872 he was district administrator of the Lübben district . In 1881 he was appointed the Prussian state director of Waldeck-Pyrmont in Arolsen . As such, he was also the country’s commissioner to the Federal Council . Between 1884 and 1888 he was government vice president and deputy chief president in Koblenz , and from 1888 to 1890 district president in Koblenz . Between 1890 and 1902 he was regional president in Frankfurt an der Oder . When he advocated optional civil marriage in 1896 , he was reprimanded for it. He inherited the manors Nippoglense and Gallensow in the Stolp district . He converted the property into a Fideikommiss .

Between 1877 and 1881 Puttkamer was a member of the Reichstag . From 1889 to 1891 he was a member of the German Conservative Party in the Prussian House of Representatives . He was chairman of the family cooperative. At the presentation of the Association of the Pomeranian Family von Puttkamer , Jesco von Puttkamer was appointed a member of the Prussian mansion for life in 1905 .

From 1900 Puttkamer was a corps bow bearer of the Saxo-Borussia .
