The Sontra District Court (until 1867 Sontra Justice Office ) was a court of ordinary jurisdiction that existed from 1822 to 1976, as a branch until 2003, with its seat in the north Hessian town of Sontra .

history

With the entry into force of the Hessian Organizational Edict on January 1, 1822, the judiciary and administration in the Electorate of Hesse were separated. The previous Sontra office lost its administrative functions to the newly formed Rotenburg district and, as the Sontra judicial office, only served the judiciary. The district of this judicial office consisted of the city of Sontra and the neighboring villages of Berneburg , Breitau , Dens , Hornel , Königswald , Krauthausen , Lindenau , Mönchhosbach , Rautenhausen , Rockensüß , Ulfen , Weißenborn and Wölfterode . On January 1, 1837, the places Diemerode and Heyerode were incorporated from the district of the Justice Office in Bischhausen , but at the same time the place Dens was transferred to the district of the Justice Office in Nentershausen .

After the Prussian annexation of Kurhessen in 1866, the court constitution was reorganized. The previously existing judicial bodies were replaced by local courts in the first, district courts in the second and a court of appeal in the third instance. The Sontra district court in the district of the Rotenburg district court became the former Sontra judicial office .

With the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act on October 1, 1879, the change to the district of the newly established Kassel District Court took place , but the district of the Sontra District Court did not change.

As a result of the repeal of several local courts on September 30, 1932, the district court district Sontra expanded to include the communities

On January 1, 1933, the places Bauhaus and Rautenhausen were assigned to the Rotenburg an der Fulda district court and on October 1, 1933 the areas of Archfeld, Holzhausen, Markershausen and Willershausen were assigned to the Eschwege district court.

On July 1, 1957, the place Hoheneiche was assigned to the district court of Eschwege.

Finally, in the course of the regional reform in Hesse, the municipality of Herleshausen with its parts of the municipality Breitzbach, Frauenborn, Nesselröden, Unhausen and Wommen on December 1, 1971, as well as the town of Eltmannsee, which was incorporated into Waldkappel, became the district court of Eschwege and formed in 1954 with effect from January 1, 1974 The municipality of Cornberg with the incorporated districts of Rockensüß and Königswald together with the municipality of Nentershausen with its districts of Dens, Mönchhosbach and Weißenhasel was handed over to the Rotenburg ad Fulda district court on July 1, 1973.

With effect from June 1, 1976, the Sontra District Court was repealed as a full court and converted into a branch of the Eschwege District Court which is exclusively responsible for the city of Sontra. On November 1, 2003, this branch was also closed.
