Jutta Ploch , after marriage to Jutta Schenk , (born January 13, 1960 in Weißenfels ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic who was Olympic champion in four-four and world champion in double scull .

Ploch began rowing at Empor Weißenfels and then switched to SC Berlin-Grünau . In 1977 she won the Spartakiad in singles , in 1978 she won the Junior World Championships in quadruples. In 1979 she was runner-up in the GDR both in the single behind Martina Schröter and, together with Petra Boesler, in the double scull behind Cornelia Linse and Heidi Westphal . The following year she took third place in the single and, together with Anke Rehfeld, again came second in the double scull. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , Jutta Ploch was actually intended as a substitute rower. In the run-up to the double fours, she started together with Gisela Medefindt , Sybille Reinhardt , Roswietha Zobelt and taxwoman Liane Buhr , while Jutta Lau was not used. Since there were only seven boats at the start, it was enough for the final qualification to be among the best six boats: The GDR's double-scull clocked the third-best time. It was originally planned that Jutta Ploch should cede her place to Jutta Lau for the final, instead Gisela Medefindt had to give way. In the final, the boat from the GDR won just ahead of the boat from the USSR.

From 1981 to 1983 Jutta Ploch won the GDR championship in double sculls and double fours. At the 1981 World Championships in Munich, Ploch took second place behind the Soviet boat together with Heidi Westphal, Cornelia Linse, Birka Brandt and helmsman Jenny Gerber . A year later at the World Championships in Lucerne, the boat from the USSR again won ahead of the boat from the GDR, which was made up of Jutta Hampe , Jutta Ploch, Heidi Westphal, Cornelia Linse and helmsman Andrea Rost . In 1983 in Duisburg, Jutta Schenk, now married, competed in double sculls with Martina Schröter and also won a world championship three years after her Olympic victory. In 1980 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver and in 1984 in gold.

Jutta Schenk is a qualified sports teacher and after her career worked as a trainer in Berlin.
