The Kärlingerhaus (often also called Funtenseehaus ) is an alpine club hut of the Berchtesgaden section of the German Alpine Club near the Funtensee in the Steinerne Meer in the Berchtesgaden Alps in the Berchtesgadener Land . The hut is located on a karst plateau in the border area between Germany and Austria in the core zone of the Berchtesgaden National Park . There are different information about the altitude of 1630 m , 1631 m or 1638 m . On December 24, 2001 below the Kärlingerhaus, the lowest temperature in Germany to date was measured at −45.9 degrees Celsius.
history
Already in 1879 a Funtensee hut had been built a few meters above today's location , which came into the possession of the Berchtesgaden section founded in 1875 on August 14, 1879, had already been used by around 70 tourists in the months before and which in the The result was a mountaineering base.
In 1889, with over 400 overnight stays, the hut became too small, and it was decided to rebuild and expand the existing building a little below the site. After completion in 1890, the house was able to welcome Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria (1821–1912) as a distinguished guest in 1891 and 1893 .
From 1901 the crampedness of the house was another reason to build a new building. This was built in place of an earlier forester's hut from 1903, and at the end of November 1904 the two-story dormitory was completely finished on the outside . In 1910 the Funtensee house was renamed Kärlingerhaus after the section chairman Kajetan Kärlinger .
In 2004 the house celebrated its 125th anniversary.

On the second day, the route continues to the Ingolstadt house and across the Hochwies to the Wimbachscharte. The descent takes place through the Loferer Seilergraben into Wimbachgries and out to Ramsau near Berchtesgaden . Many other ski tours lead to the surrounding peaks and the Steinerne Meer.
