The village of Kallithea ( Greek Καλλιθέα ( f. Sg. ) 'Good view') is located in the west of the Greek island of Samos on the western foothills of the Kerkis at an altitude of about 300 m. Agia Kyriaki is about 5 km southeast.

After the earlier numerous occurring hollies (πουρνάρια) the place was first Prinias called (Πρινίας), and together with Drakei the community Kalabaktasi (Δήμος Καλαμπακτασίων). The name Kalabaktasi is presumably of Turkish origin and can be translated as “sentry”. When the communities were separated, Kallithea initially retained the place name Kalabaktasi (Καλαμπακτάσι). It wasn't until 1950 that the place was officially renamed Kallithea. In the mountains, in the region of Askitaria (ασκηταριά), there are some small churches, some in caves, which used to be used as hermitages for monks.

The inhabitants live mainly from the cultivation of olives and also keep animals. In the past, charcoal burning was common.

With the implementation of the municipality reform according to the Kapodistrias program in 1997, Kallithea was incorporated into the municipality of Marathokambos . After the merger of the former municipalities of the island after the administrative reform in 2010 to form the municipality of Samos ( Δήμος Σάμου Dímos Sámou ), Kallithea is now divided into two municipalities in 2019 as part of the municipality of Dytiki Samos .
