Current vehicle registration numbers in Myanmar contain a three-letter regional code (like YGN for Yangon) over a six-digit alphanumeric serial number. As of October 2013, the new signs are now entirely written in English (in block and / or lower case) and Arabic numerals, although older signs with all Burmese characters are still common, especially on older vehicles. The mandatory use of the English language and the Arabic numerals does not prohibit the repetition of the information through the parallel use of the national characters. All military vehicles and every type of motorcycle go on only with the incomprehensible Burmese.
There are several types of license plates in Myanmar, which are colored and dimensioned differently depending on the vehicle and agency, as shown in the table below:

Taxi - Normal bus and taxi numbers ( P ublic S ervice V ehicles) are red and start 2012-3 with pairs of letters before 1-9999. When the letter pairs AA to HH were issued, the pairing idea was discontinued for no known reason, and now the vehicles are registered in the normal run 1A-1234.

As of June 2016, 5,720,256 vehicles / machines of which 476,679 private cars, 28,970 passenger cars, 259,491 light and heavy trucks, 4781,286 two-wheelers, 75,214 tricycles and 98,616 other vehicles / machines were registered in Myanmar.
