Architecture and sculpture
- The Gothic pulpit of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna , made from Breitenbrunn sand-lime brick , is completed.
- The construction of the late Gothic style St. Anne's monastery and the associated church in Lübeck will be completed after around 13 years of construction.
- The Portuguese King Manuel I commissioned the construction of the Torre de Belém , today one of the landmarks of Lisbon in the Manueline style .

Antonio da Correggio completes the altarpiece The Madonna of St. Francis in his hometown Correggio . On April 4th he handed it over to his clients, the monks of the Minorite monastery. A Sacra Conversazione is shown , a representation of the enthroned Madonna together with saints in a spiritual conversation. This picture is considered to be the first independent painting by Correggio, in which he was one of the first artists after Raphael to transfer the style of the 15th century Quattrocento into the 16th century Cinquecento . The first baroque echoes are visible here.
