Laiküla (German Layküll ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality Lääne-Nigula (until 2017: rural municipality Martna ) in Lääne County in Estonia .

Population and location

The place has 23 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). The distance to the county capital Haapsalu is 32 kilometers.

The Rannamõisa River ( Rannamõisa jõgi ) flows through the village and flows into the Matsalu Bay. The Laiküla Moor ( Laiküla raba ) lies east of the village center .

history

The Laiküla farm was built during the 17th century. It was first mentioned in a document in 1688. Since 1865 it was a land post . The last private owner before the expropriation in the course of the Estonian land reform in 1919 was the Baltic German Karl Edler von Rennenkampff.
