Einbi (Swedish Enby ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality Lääne-Nigula (until 2017: rural municipality Noarootsi ) in Lääne County in Estonia .

description

The place has nineteen inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located on the southwestern tip of the Noarootsi peninsula ( Noarootsi poolsaar ). A forested area stretches between Einbi and the northern village of Paslepa . To the south of the village lies the Haapsalu Bay ( Haapsalu laht ), to the west of the Wose Sound ( Voosi kurk ).

The place name is officially bilingual Estonian and Swedish, as the village was part of the traditional settlement area of the Estonian Swedes until it was relocated during World War II .

In earlier times, the villagers lived from fishing for fish and seals . The port of Voosi, which no longer exists today, also belonged to the place. From 1901 , the provisional and lemonade manufacturer Georg Christian Nörman , who worked in Haapsalu, produced the table water "Eau de Vosy" in the naturally pristine area. The carbonated seawater sold successfully as a health-promoting agent until World War II.
