Taebla (German Taibel ) is a village ( Estonian alevik ) in the rural municipality Lääne-Nigula in Lääne County in Estonia . It is the main town in the rural parish. Until 2013 Taebla belonged to the meanwhile dissolved rural community Taebla and was its main town.

The place has 840 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). Its area is 1.2 km².

The village is twelve kilometers northeast of the county capital Haapsalu .

The town's train station is on the railway line between Haapsalu and the Estonian capital Tallinn . In 2004 it was shut down.

history

The village was first mentioned in 1341 under the name Taybile . The first information about the farm comes from 1515.

Taebla experienced great population growth during the existence of the Estonian SSR . A tractor park with numerous workshops was created in the place. The peat extraction in the region was of particular interest to the Soviet economy.
