Päri (German Kattentack ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality Lääne-Nigula (until 2017: rural municipality Kullamaa ) in Lääne County in Estonia .

Population and location

The place has 39 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 31 kilometers southeast of the district capital Haapsalu .

The Estonian name of the village comes from the Berg family who owned the area in the 16th century.

Well

The Päri manor was first mentioned in 1450 under the name Kattentappe . Since the second half of the 18th century the estate was owned by the noble Baltic German family Maydell . The Estonian state expropriated it as part of the land reform in 1919.

The small, two-story mansion in the style of early classicism was built at the end of the 18th century. The lower ground floor served utility rooms. Today the building is only preserved as a ruin. The caretaker's house with its thick walls and the jacket chimney is older than the main house and was built before the middle of the 18th century. Only a few of his walls have survived.

The buildings were surrounded by a small park. The manor's historic Dutch-style windmill recently fell victim to a quarry.
